From the opposite direction comes the nicker of horses, while to the west lies an entrance to the great Tower of Discipline. From the east, near the tower entrance, they spell out the history of Vanlarra. The first paintings are of Lattyrna, before it slipped beneath the waves. Following those, the paintings depict the great tragedy that befell that beautiful city. In one portrayal, a few mages escape the destruction and watch on as Lattyrna sinks to its watery grave. As the portraits progress, those mages wander the land. Eventually, they come to this island and choose to found a place of learning. Slowly, through work mundane and magical, the city is built. The final painting shows the city as it is today. Perhaps it is due to the lighting, but the city seems dim with shadow. It is very ominous, in contrast to the blossoming hope of the other works here.
